How we report.
When we report, what a gate is worth, and the one line in the accounts we would ask an analyst to read first.
Gates, not forecasts
VirtuCorp is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under VCP. We report on a calendar-year basis, with segment reporting across the operating groups and the cross-divisional programmes.
Progress is reported as gates passed. It is a harder number to present and an easier one to verify. A gate that slips is disclosed in the quarter it slips in, with the revised date and the reason.
Long-term maintenance commitments are the least glamorous line in the accounts and the one we would ask an analyst to read first. A placement or an integration is a decades-long obligation, and it is provided for as one.
The reporting year
Fourth-quarter and full-year results are reported once the calendar year has closed, with the results statement, segment reporting and the capital plan for the year. There is a webcast for institutional holders and the transcript is published the same day.
The annual report and accounts follow, with consolidated accounts and related-party disclosure. Quarterly results follow their quarters, each one carrying programme gate status, and the first of them is reported alongside the first gated reviews of the Mars qualification campaign.
The annual general meeting is held in California. Notice, resolutions and proxy arrangements are published six weeks in advance, and the record date is set in the notice.
