Mars systems

Qualifying for 2030.

Surface power, propellant production, surface systems and logistics manifests, qualified for the agencies and consortia flying in 2030. The window opens that year and recurs two years later, and every article is scheduled backwards from it.

One date, four systems

Mars systems is a supply line. We qualify and build flight hardware for the agencies and consortia that fly it: NASA, the European Space Agency, JAXA and ISRO, with the manifests held by the launch providers. It draws on the industrial base, the cultivation programme and Unity, and the qualification work is funded through VirtuCorp Capital against gates it has to pass.

Flight readiness means the hardware exists, has been through environmental qualification and can be manifested.

The crew element we supply is a Synthetic cohort, in induction now at Andermatt and Reykjavik, contracted to the programme that will fly them. Names follow when induction completes.

The qualification campaign

Surface power is the article on the stand at Mojave, cleared for flight-qualifying test in December. The review that follows it is one of the campaign's first formal gates, in April 2028.

The propellant package is a Sabatier plant. It takes carbon dioxide out of the Martian atmosphere and hydrogen out of local water ice and makes methane and oxygen from them. It was ground-proven at laboratory scale in 2026 and has run in continuous analog operation through 2027. Making propellant from local material is the difference between a visit and a settlement.

Surface systems are flight-ready: rovers and tracked cargo skids, with the Mars-analog fidelity demonstration completed in 2027 to every condition set for it. Logistics manifests are in build, with habitation, power, propellant, construction and communications kits manifested as sealed modules, one capability to a module. First flight units of the surface and propellant hardware are delivered in the fourth quarter of this year, which is what the 2029 launch and licensing cycle needs.

We supply flight avionics and surface-operations risk modelling to NASA as a tier-one supplier for Artemis IV, whose landing in September is the closest thing to a rehearsal these articles get. The same avionics line supplies the European Space Agency's Rosalind Franklin follow-on and JAXA's sample-return bus, and the surface power article is qualified against ISRO's requirement as well as NASA's.
